VA250 – Battersea Re-Enactment Weekend

Join us at Battersea as we host the annual Re-Enactment of the Battle of Petersburg during a special year of commemoration for America’s 250th. In line with this year’s celebrations, we’ve added some new programming and events that we are excited to share.

Saturday April 18th

10:00am          Event Opens to the Public – Opening Remarks, Prayers and DAR Wreath Laying Dedication

11:00am         Cannon Demonstration

Lunch Break

1:30pm          Battle of Harlem Heights

2:00pm            Tag, Rag, and Bobtail: Women of the Army

3:00pm            Period Dance Demonstration

4:00pm            Site Closes to Public

Sunday April 19th

10:00          Event Opens to the Public

11:00         Church Service

1:00          Battle of Petersburg

2:00            Event Ends

We’re excited to offer shuttle service on the Petersburg trolleys this year! Park near the Petersburg Visitor Center at South Side Depot (37 River Street) and hop on a trolley out to Battersea. Please note that the gates will close 30 minutes before the start of the reenactments (see schedule). Parking is still available at Battersea, however, it’s fun and easy to catch a trolley! First one will depart at 9:45 am on Saturday!
On Saturday, there will be a food truck and beverages including a special Trapezium Brewing Co. beer available for refreshments on site!
