Historic Blandford Cemetery has one of the most extraordinary collections of cast and wrought-iron fences and gates in the nation, in terms of variety and types. The earliest examples of hand-wrought iron date from the very early part of the 19th century, with later cast iron examples produced primarily by firms based in Philadelphia and New York City. This tour will be led by Sergei Troubetzkoy, who researched and wrote the entry on ironwork for the nomination of Blandford Cemetery for listing on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places. This event is co-sponsored by the Historic Blandford Cemetery Foundation.
