Rotary Park sits on historic Pocahontas Island, one of the nation’s oldest free African American settlements dating back to the mid-1800s. The park offers open green space and a peaceful setting along the Appomattox River, along with a picnic area and a launch for kayaks and canoes. Visitors should bring their own kayaks, canoes, and water safety equipment. The park also connects to the Appomattox River Trail on the island.

Every September, Paddle Battle is launched from Rotary Park and kayakers follow the Appomattox to Hopewell.
